WilTel Frame Relay Service

Frame Relay Service is a data communications interface standard for wideband packet-switching. It provides the transmission of variable-length packets across a virtual digital private network. The packets can access the network at speeds of 56 Kbps up to 1.544 Mbps. WilTel's Frame Relay Service operates within WilTel's Data Concourse, WilTel's broadband network platform which accommodates frame relay and ATM, and, in the future, will also provide internetworking between the two. WilTel was the first carrier to offer a public frame relay service, introduced in March 1991.

Automatic Alternate Routing of Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVCs) between WilTel Points of Presence (POPs) increases network availability and reliability.
A single interface into the WilTel Frame Relay Network supports multiple logical connections. This reduces expenditure on local access changes and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE)
Dynamic bandwidth allocation improves overall network performance and allows for more efficient use of network capacity.
Oversubscription allows you to take advantage of the bursty nature of data transactions, and increases network efficiency through greater connectivity.
Virtual connectivity provides the ability to rapidly reengineer and reconfigure network connectivity.
Flat monthly fee. Non-usage and non-mileage sensitive pricing improves price/performance for data networks and provides predictable monthly costs for easier annual budgetary planning.

SERVICE OPTIONS

Disaster Recovery Option allows customers to protect their data hosts in affordable ways.
PVCs provide logical connectivity between port connections. Each PVC is assigned a CIR (Commited Information Rate) in increments of 16 Kbps (up to 64 Kbps) and 64 Kbps (up to 1.024 Mbps).
